The price of all ordinary stamps increases to more than one euro from January 1

Mail rates will go up 4.7% on average as of Friday and all green, red and gray stamps will now cost more than one


Sending a letter will cost more.

From this Friday, among the usual novelties of January 1, the price of an ordinary stamp (green, red and gray) goes to more than one euro.

That of the green stamp - for a cover distributed in 48 hours in metropolitan France - for individuals will go from 97 cents to 1.08 euros (+ 11.3%) and that of the red stamp - for a priority letter theoretically distributed the next day - from 1.16 to 1.28 euros (+ 10.3%).

As for the “Ecopli” - the cheapest formula for a shipment in four days on average, with a gray stamp - it will increase by 95 cents to 1.06 euro (+ 11.6%).

Regarding the other formulas, for a priority shipment (delivery in 24 hours), it will now be necessary to pay 1.28 euros against 1.16 euros (+ 10.3%).

As for international mail, the postage rate not from 1.40 euro to 1.50 euro.

Already a sharp rise in prices last year

These new tariffs were validated last summer by the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Posts (Arcep).

They allow, "to ensure the sustainability of the universal service" in a "context of acceleration of the decline in the volumes of mail" transported, justified La Poste in a press release.

It should be noted that the purchase of stamps online allows these prices which increase regularly to drop by 3%.

As a reminder, on January 1, 2020, mail prices had already increased.

The price of ordinary green, red and gray stamps rose 10.2%, 10.5% and 10.5% respectively.
