Corona protection: the smaller the company, the greater the risk

2021-01-13T09:47:05.017Z

In many places, people are working in the tough shutdown as if there were no pandemic. Federal government data shows that the level of protection against infection in the workplace often depends on the size of the company.

Schools and daycare centers are closed, restaurants, fitness studios and cinemas anyway, private meetings are only allowed to a very limited extent, and in some places even the radius of movement is limited - only the work has hardly been restricted by politics even in the tightened shutdown.

In the working world, significantly more people come together every day than would be sensible to contain the corona pandemic, and they sometimes do activities in which they expose themselves to the risk of infection.

The employers' associations like to refer to the strictly regulated occupational safety.

In fact, own standards for the corona pandemic have been in place since April, which have since been supplemented and specified several times.

However, these are by no means followed everywhere.

Infection protection measures are often not implemented, especially in smaller companies.

In addition, works councils are only relatively rarely involved in the measures.

This emerges from a response by the federal government to a small request from the Left parliamentary group that SPIEGEL has received.
