After the power struggle with the Lufthansa Group, two out of three board members of the flight attendant union UFO announced their resignation.

These are the chairmen Daniel Flohr and Louisa Callenberg.

In a statement they announced that they would resign from their offices on January 31 of this year.

You are thus ahead of the motions for voting that were announced by the union advisory council for a general meeting on February 11th.

The reason is deep disagreements within the employee organization.

Internal critics accuse Flohr of having made decisions single-handedly in the dispute over the downsizing at Lufthansa, together with former chairman Nicoley Baublies.

The two had passed over important bodies such as the advisory board and the policy committee.

In December Flohr had already announced that he would resign by July 30th at the latest.

Flohr and Callenberg justified their resignation on January 31st by stating that this was the only way to ensure a smooth re-election of the board.

"The UFO and the board as a body have suffered enough damage in the last few months, you have to be able to trust that your choice will bring calm and enable you to look ahead," says the message.

In a conversation with the dpa news agency, Flohr said that one more person would now be appointed to the board so that the leadership would remain functional until the new elections.

With the Germanwings flight attendant Anja Bronstert, only one member of the originally seven-member union board has been determined.

Together with Baublies, Flohr had determined the corona negotiations with Lufthansa and concluded the cornerstones of a collective bargaining agreement.

These included protecting around 22,000 flight attendants from the Lufthansa core company from redundancies due to operational reasons by the end of 2023.

But they could not prevent the Germanwings and SunExpress Deutschland flight operations from being closed.

Before the corona crisis, Lufthansa had questioned the tariff eligibility of the UFO after several strikes and thus doubted that the then executive board was authorized to represent.
