The International Monetary Fund has warned of the widening gap between rich and poor countries during the recovery period from the Corona pandemic.
"The performance of the global economy during the years 2020 and 2021 may be less bleak than previous expectations," said Christina Georgieva, director of the fund, to French newspaper Le Figaro, regarding her forecast for the performance of the global economy in 2021.
Georgieva pointed out that the global economy started this year with a stronger performance than expected, due to the economic recovery in the third quarter of last year, which was surprising in terms of size.
Last week, the World Bank lowered its forecast for global growth in 2021 to 4 percent from 4.2 percent, indicating that an increase in production might be simple by 1.6 percent if the vaccination campaigns against the Corona epidemic were delayed.
