If there is one good thing that 2020 has done, it is the fact that it has made us more aware.
Nothing is taken for granted anymore, not even a simple procedure like washing hands.
It's not just about our personal hygiene - this year has made us realize that every particle of dust around us has the potential to cause the body unsympathetic things.
Home hygiene technology makers realized this long before the Corona.
As of 2015, the U.S. air filter market has reached a turnover of $ 2 billion a year. In this country this field is still far from realizing its potential, perhaps because of prices and perhaps because of the relative lack of awareness of the field. Many people refer to these devices as "just an expensive fan" Really understand their meaning.
Filter prices start at NIS 400-500 and can reach several good thousands.
We chose to test the Dyson Pure Hot + Cool HP04, one of the more expensive devices on the market - the recommended consumer price is NIS 3,190.
Not always the most expensive is necessarily also the best, but in Dyson it is different.
We decided to test this device precisely because Dyson is considered the spearhead in every category and therefore it is worth checking if here too it does produce a winning product, and the second - we already have several years the AM11, the older model, so we also gained background in operation and maintenance.
But it was natural for us to test the most advanced device in the series.
So let's move one little thing down the road - comparing the HP04 to the AM11 (which still lives and works in our bedroom) is like comparing the 1982 Mercedes to the Mercedes 2020 - the same luxury brand, still the best there is, but just not the same product.
Due to the simplicity of the AM11 and the lack of advanced digitization, we did not know how good it is.
We feel that maybe he is doing the job, but in today's reality nothing should be based on feelings.
The HP04 already has an app, accurate metrics, a larger working range and also a heating function, which differentiates it from the intermediate device in the series - TP04 which is more advanced than the AM11 but still only provides cooling option.

What does HP04 do?
By and large, the heating and cooling operations are defined as ancillary to this device, whose main purpose is to filter particles in the air.
After all, for heating and cooling you did not buy a device for NIS 3,200.
The device detects pollutants in the air at a filter level of 99.95 percent.
These are microscopic particles such as smoke, various allergens, aerosols, dust, chemical compounds and more.

As soon as we turned on the toaster it rose to 80.
When we decided to make a steak it reached 500 (bright purple that tells you, basically, that in a moment you will die).
It is important to emphasize that operating the device is not only used for monitoring, but also for lowering the odor at a relatively high speed.
This feature struck us.
In our apartment, with a living room connected to the kitchen without a steam collector, it is very difficult to dissipate odors even when all the windows are open.
To some extent this is even daunting, since you know even before preparing a meal that you will have to deal with the accompanying odor for several hours.
With the HP04 the numbers returned to the yellow area about half an hour later and a little less than an hour later went down to green.
This may sound like a lot to you, but we have a source of comparison.
We know how long it took before.
You can control the device through an app - turn it on, off, change volumes and no less important - know what the situation is at home even when it is not working.
Even when the device is turned off, it will show you the air condition in the space and also the situation in your city of residence.
Thus, for example, in that foggy week of early January, he showed slightly higher than normal air pollution outside.
It can guide you whether to leave windows open when you leave the house and especially when you are inside.
Why now?
The first edition of the HP04 hit the market at the end of 2019. Why critique it in the winter of 2020-21?
For various reasons.
First, because the corona has made it and the devices of its kind more relevant than ever.
While we go into closures and spend quite a bit of time at home, their presence is very significant.
Secondly, because it was important for us to check Dyson's progress graph since AM11, which as mentioned we could not assess its degree of success and now we have some indication through this device.
The main reason, at least for us, was the relief of the odors that bothered us a lot.
In a relatively small apartment in the urban and crowded Givatayim, there is meaning to every neighbor who smokes, to every bus that passes on the street and to every eyeball that is fried on the pan.
In this respect we felt that we had indeed caught the smell in the eggs.
When you have a device at home that is able to monitor the scents, you can definitely sleep soundly.

We got to the fun part.
My wife and I have a weird addictive trait.
From the moment we understood the "green" standard we felt the need to be in complete control and strive for it at any given moment.
Of course this creates interesting situations, like the surprising WhatsApp message "Why the house on 65?"
That I suddenly got from her one of the innocent evenings she was out of the house (I cooked rice for the dog, in case you must know, really thank you for asking), or this correspondence from the time we were both not home.

The price
As in the category of vacuum cleaners and hair products, here too Dyson places a relatively high price on competitors.
At the time I tested a number of vacuum cleaners and there I was able to firmly determine that Dyson's is indeed the best of them all, as the company presents.
I can not do this in this case, I have not tested other filters, but I can definitely say that the device worked beyond expectations and gave a huge upgrade to the house.
The Achilles heel is the price.
Not only do you not only pay NIS 3,190, maintenance is also expensive.
One pair of filters costs NIS 340 and the other NIS 290.
You do not have to replace them together, and yet - consciously it is 630 shekels a year.
It's quite a bit of money.
