La Banque Postale announced on Tuesday that it had been
"victim"
a year ago of the destruction of more than 30,000 loan files
"linked to a failure of its archiving service provider"
, confirming information from Le
Canard Enchaîné

"This failure of a recognized expert in archiving in the banking and insurance sector will have no impact on the protection of the rights of La Banque Postale customers"
, assured the company to the AFP.
Inversion
According to the weekly, the archiving company confused the numbers of obsolete mortgage files, which were
"to be taken out"
, and the numbers of the boxes where they were stored.
Instead of taking 2,052 files, 2,052 boxes containing 30,527 files were destroyed by the archiving company as a result of a
“file reversal”
.
La Banque Postale, which is exposed to possible failures of bad paying customers - the destroyed files concerning guarantees -, did not indicate the amount of its potential damage.
