After a string of increases in gasoline, the government
postponed until March 12 the increase in the fuel tax
scheduled for March 1.
In this way,
another increase
of up to 5.2% in gasoline and diesel
was stopped for ten days,
which should have been in force since March 1.
Through decree 35/2021, published this Monday in the Official Gazette, it was indicated that "the increase in the tax amounts corresponding to the fourth quarter of 2020, will have effects on unleaded gasoline, virgin gasoline and diesel, from on March 12, 2021. "
The government attributed the postponement to "current circumstances and the necessary stabilization of prices."
Last January 16, the oil company YPF ordered an average price increase of 3.5% for its fuels, which includes the differential adjustment for the increase in the tax component of gasoline and diesel.
This increase includes the
increase in the Tax on Liquid Fuels (ICL) and the Tax on Carbon Dioxide
(IDC) of 7.7% that came into effect on January 15, as provided by the Government.
Since mid-August, when the first adjustment for this management was authorized, fuels have already risen more than 34% on average.
The price of super naphtha fuel reaches $ 71.90 at the YPF stations in Buenos Aires.
