The Turkish economy has slowed since last November, according to official statistics published today.
Reuters quoted Turkish Central Bank Governor Naji Iqbal as saying: "Turkey's economic growth has slowed, partly because of the tightening of monetary policy that began last August, in addition to the slowdown in credit growth."
The Turkish economy is going through a stifling crisis as a result of the policies of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which created unprecedented pressure on the Turkish lira and caused its deterioration for months on end, in addition to the increase in inflation rates and the spread of unemployment.
The British Financial Times newspaper had revealed earlier that unemployment rates among Turkish youth had increased dramatically in the recent period, especially after the outbreak of the Coronavirus epidemic, reaching 24 percent in a country with a population of about 83 million people.
