Oil prices rose more than 2 percent today and hit 12-month highs after major crude producers showed they were curbing output roughly in line with their pledges.
Reuters reported that the world benchmark Brent crude oil contract ended the trading session, up $ 1.11, or 1.97 percent, to record at settlement $ 57.46 a barrel, in its third day of gains.
The US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose $ 1.11, or 2.26 percent, to settle at $ 54.76 a barrel.
The upward trend began as figures showed OPEC production increased less than expected.
