Airbnb agrees to monitor ads on its site

Is this the end of an era of bitter conflict between Airbnb on one side, authorities and hoteliers on the other?

It is in any case a "

", according to Emmanuelle Wargon, Minister for Housing.

At the request of the government, the American platform agreed to make commitments, intended to "

support the application of the regulation of furnished tourist accommodation"

.

Airbnb will now ensure that short-term rentals on its site are registered with local authorities who request it.

This is an important step in the fight against the illegal offer of vacation rentals.

Since 2017, the law has allowed cities with more than 200,000 inhabitants to set up a registration number (provided by town halls) for furnished tourist accommodation.
