"I know I live on borrowed time," says Gadi (full name confidential), a 50-year-old northern resident. Twice underworld criminals tried to eliminate him from close range, twice he miraculously survived.

One time he was saved because of a restraint in the weapon, a second time he was saved even though four bullets pierced his body.

"I'm starting to run out of miracles," he says as he comes to terms with his fate.

"I will not retire and I will not get to see the grandchildren. Every day I am still alive is a gift."

"I will not die of old age"

He grew up in a rainbow family, and already at the age of 12 was forced to leave school and go to work.

"I always worked for a living," he says proudly.

"I got paid the minimum wage until I started a business."

The start was promising.

Gadi managed to make a living and marry his life partner, from whom he gave birth to three children.

After 15 years of marriage, their relationship ran aground and his financial situation deteriorated.

He did not give up and chose to attack life again - he found a new partner, from whom he had another child, and opened a bakery in his area of residence.

"I ran the business with a high hand," he says.

"The income was high and I led a normal and normative lifestyle without debts."

But then everything changed.

"At one point the underworld tried to take over the business, and criminals demanded that I pay sponsorship fees every month. I objected, of course, and at that moment I decided my fate: they started threatening my life, burned my car, threatened to harm my children. At some point the woman was pressured and ran away. From me. I found myself dealing alone with dangerous criminals.

”For the first few months the police secured me, but very quickly I felt it was suffocating me.

The cops also went to the bathroom with me.

It put me under terrible stress, so I signed with the police that I was giving up security.

After you lose everything you have - your home, your family, your independence - you are no longer afraid of anything.

I know I'll die - not old age.

You talk to a dead living person. "

This phrase," dead alive, "is not just a subjective feeling of Capricorn, it is the medical reality in which he has been living for several years, since he was diagnosed by the district psychiatrist as suffering from post-trauma." I live on pills. "I'm dying for pills," he says with a bitter laugh. "Would you be optimistic if you were my place?

Can you be optimistic when you owe millions and constantly look behind your back to see if anyone pulls out a gun?

I do not think so".

Collection of bottles from the garbage

According to him, he sleeps intermittently, each time in a different place.

Sometimes with his parents, sometimes in a hospital.

"I go to the emergency room and tell them I have a headache, all for spending the night under one roof."

What do you live on?

"I receive an allowance of NIS 1,600 from the National Insurance Institute and I collect bottles from garbage cans."

But all this time huge debts have been created - as a result of payments that were not transferred to suppliers, interest rates, endless rents.

Just before he reached debts of NIS 10 million, there was a turnaround.

It was at this point that Adv. Ortal Nachmani of the Hoffman-Rose law came into the picture, who managed to convince the court to include Gadi in a process of economic rehabilitation.

"Gadi's story, which sounds like a Turkish telenovela, is real and painful," she says. In the amount of NIS 10 million.

Execution cases were opened for him, and for years he was without a driver's license and could not fit into the work force.

As soon as we entered the picture, we returned his license to him and all enforcement proceedings against him were stopped.

Despite debts of millions of shekels, today he has to repay only 500 shekels a month.

Even with this minimum amount, he did not meet and debts were incurred due to arrears.

A few days ago the court rescinded his arrears debts and gave him another chance to come back to life.

We very much hope that he will take this opportunity with both hands. "
