The Central Bank of Syria denied all rumors about preparations for the launch of a new 10,000-pound banknote, indicating that all rumors in this regard are totally untrue, and their aim is to undermine confidence in the national currency and serve the interest of speculators.
In a statement, which SANA received a copy of, the bank confirmed that the issuance of the cash denominations is based on studying the reality of the national economy and its requirements from the monetary side and in line with the growth of local production through its follow-up to the markets and securing the trading needs of all denominations of banknotes.
The bank called on citizens to be wary of rumors targeting their savings, whether those broadcast on social media pages or some analysts who claim expertise, calling on the media to rely on everything related to monetary policy and its procedures only on the official website of the Central Bank of Syria and the social media of the bank.
