Unemployment in the euro zone stagnated in January, unchanged from December, affecting 8.1% of the working population, starting only a very slight decline among young people, still the most affected by the consequences of the pandemic , said Thursday the European statistics office.

Among those under 25, the unemployment rate reached 17.1%, down 0.1 point from December (revised figure), Eurostat said.

In January 2020, unemployment stood at 7.4% for the entire population in the euro area, and 15.6% among young people.
