Applicant Walha, IT specialist branch:
Fairer and more transparent?

It wasn't just any job exchange that Nassim Walha, 22, met his new employer at.
Artificial intelligence selected who was allowed to attend the Zoom video call with 20 applicants and six large IT companies.
According to the KI, Walha was among the top two percent of his year in Germany.
"20 applicants and six companies, you were allowed to talk to each other for five minutes - and if the company found someone good, they got in touch: It was like speed dating," reports the mathematician.
In the end, he had a contract with a large IT company.
Candidate Select (Case) is the name of the start-up behind the selection process.
Two university graduates founded the company in Bonn in 2016.
Their goal: to make university degrees in Germany comparable.
They have analyzed more than 300,000 university certificates and tested just as many students.
Better comparability, above all: fairer comparisons, that's what artificial intelligence is supposed to make attractive to HR managers.
People make mistakes when it comes to choosing new employees, above all they are too often guided by prejudices and unconscious patterns.
"Maybe it's because I'm a mathematician, but I think AI makes the application process fairer," says Walha, "especially when it comes to discrimination against foreigners, women or minorities."
