Singapore Airlines will inaugurate next week a "
digital passport
" developed by the International Air Transport Association (Iata) which will allow passengers to prove their health status in the face of the coronavirus.
Iata has designed a “
Travel Pass
”, an application that displays and authenticates passenger health data, such as their Covid-19 tests or their vaccination status, in order to facilitate checks.

The Singaporean company will begin testing this device on flights between the city-state and London from March 15 to 28 with passengers whose smartphones are running iOS.

Our partnership with Singapore Airlines will be the first full deployment of the Iata Travel Pass and will help restart air travel around the world,
" said Nick Careen, an official of the association.
Users can book tests for Covid-19 at a clinic through the app.
After registering at the clinic through the app, they receive the test results and confirmation of their health status on the Travel Pass.
Passengers are then asked to prove their health status via the application at check-in.
Other airlines, including Air New Zealand or Emirates, must also participate in the tests of this application.
The virus has plunged the airline industry into a historic crisis with an estimated loss of revenue of $ 510 billion last year.
