The airline Flybondi reported on Friday night that its flights scheduled to take off from this Tuesday from the Jorge Newbery Metropolitan Airport will continue to do so from Ezeiza, since the spaces are not ready for the "low cost" planes to spend the night in the Capital. .

"Flybondi informs that as a result of the request by the aeronautical authorities and due to operational reasons beyond the control of the company, it will not start its flights at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery on March 16 and must continue operating in Ezeiza until March 31," he said. the airline through a statement.

The other two airlines that will change part of their operations are Aerolineas Argentinas and JetSmart, which did not have any modifications to their programming.

Aerolineas will begin to fly from Aeroparque with its fleet of Embraer aircraft, which Austral used until the merger.

In the case of JetSmart, its flights will take off from Ezeiza on Monday, but at night they will land at Aeroparque, to start flying from there as of Tuesday.

The new Aeroparque runway, when it was still under construction: now it was lengthened up to 2.7 kilometers.

Instead, Flybondi will have to wait until April, as informed by the Airport System Regulatory Body (ORSNA).

The argument is that there is still no space for the Flybondi planes (two) to spend the night.

"According to what was reported today by said authorities, next week Aeroparque still will not have the space necessary for the airline to have its planes parked, since the spaces assigned to it could not yet be enabled on the platform", added the statement.

"As a result of this inconvenience, Flybondi will have to postpone its start of operations at Aeroparque until April 1."

The Airport will reopen this Monday after a year: it was closed, first due to the pandemic, and later due to an important work plan that included the extension of the runway to the highest international category, 2.7 kilometers long, and also the expansion of the international flight terminal.

At the moment, only Aerolineas Argentinas will make international flights from Aeroparque, but it will not be until next month: in the remainder of March, it will only fly with the Embraer fleet, which is used for domestic flights.

Meanwhile, JetSmart will do so with its Airbus A320 aircraft.

Although these teams can make domestic flights as well as to neighboring countries, the operation of JetSmart (and also that of Flybondi) in Aeroparque will be limited to domestic flights: the ORSNA only authorized these two "low cost" companies, both controlled by investment funds from the United States, to make international flights from Ezeiza.
