New containment: businesses that remain open and those that close

2021-03-18T20:16:40.392Z

The restriction measures announced by Jean Castex will apply from Saturday and for four weeks. They can be extended

The containment measures for 16 departments, especially in Ile-de-France, announced this Thursday by the Prime Minister will strongly affect businesses.

Non-essential stores and departments will therefore have to close again for a month, and only essential stores can remain open.

Bookstores and record stores will be able to remain open, being considered from now on as "of first necessity".

"For the sake of fairness, the sales restrictions will apply to the same products whether they are sold in a department store, a specialized store or a small downtown business," said the Prime Minister.

Obviously, restaurants and bars will remain closed at the time of this new confinement, even if they will still have the opportunity to use "click and collect".

“The impact of the new health restrictions on the French economy is 0.2 percentage point of annual GDP.

The support measures will cost an additional € 1.2 billion per month.

That is 7.2 billion euros in all per month ”, details Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy.
