The minister will be received in the US capital by the Director of Operations, Axel van Trotsenburg, and will be accompanied virtually by the Vice President for Latin America of the World Bank, Felipe Jaramillo;

and the representative for Argentina, Jordan Schwartz.

Also participating in the meeting will be Cecilia Nahón, former ambassador to Washington and today alternate executive director of our country to the Bank, and Sergio Chodos, director to the International Monetary Fund.

The president of the organization, David Malpass, does not see himself with Guzmán, but could have a virtual conversation with President Alberto Fernández these days.

This official is an old acquaintance of Argentina because he was vice minister of the Treasury in the government of Donald Trump and

was key in the support that the US

gave Argentina before the IMF executive board

for the granting of the US $ 57,000 million loan in 2018.

, in times of serious regional crisis due to Covid19.

Currently, the loan portfolio that the World Bank has with Argentina is around US $ 7,000 million

, especially in social, health and infrastructure projects.

The Bank is currently seeking to support investments to expand and improve the access of vulnerable sectors to basic services such as water, sanitation and housing.

In fact, one of the last projects approved was US $ 300 million to improve the Conurbano's water infrastructure and another US $ 120 million for the construction of social housing.

Guzmán comes from New York, where on Friday and Saturday he saw investors and academics.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, will be the highlight of his US tour

with an afternoon meeting at the Monetary Fund

with Kristalina Georgieva, manager of the agency, and beforehand with Deputy Director for the Western Hemisphere Julie Kozack and the person in charge of the staff. for Argentina, Luis Cubeddu, who are the ones who carry the details of the loan negotiation with Argentina.
