Renault is struggling to reduce its payroll in France.
Long before the explosion of the Covid, the manufacturer announced a savings plan.
He pledged in May to reduce its fixed costs by 2 billion euros over three years.
The elimination of 15,000 jobs worldwide, including 4,600 in France, is part of this plan.
But while 2,100 of them are organized over natural departures and early end of activity (pre-retirement) in French factories, the 2,500 planned cuts in tertiary functions and engineering are proving to be much more difficult to orchestrate. .
While 600 departures at the end of their careers were triggered last year in support and engineering functions, the group's management hoped that 1,900 more employees would volunteer to carry out personal projects and pursue their careers outside the Losange.
At the beginning of April, only 300 had raised a finger to leave the group, while the agreement ends in September.
