Italy now prohibits the entry into its territory of people from India, in the grip of an epidemic outbreak of Covid-19, Health Minister Roberto Speranza announced on his Facebook account on Sunday.

Today I signed a new ordinance that prohibits entry into Italy to people who have been in India for the past 14 days,
” Speranza wrote.

Italian residents can return but must take a test (anti-Covid, editor's note) on departure and arrival and remain in quarantine on their return
", specifies the minister.
2 million cases in one week in India

Anyone who has been in India in the last 14 days and is already in our country should contact
" the health authorities, added Mr. Speranza.

We cannot let our guard down.
Friday was a record day globally with 893,000 (new) positive cases, including 346,000 in India,
”the minister said.

India, with a population of 1.3 billion, is in the throes of an appalling epidemic with another 349,691 new cases on Sunday.
Over the past seven days, the country has recorded more than two million new cases, an increase of 58% from the previous week, according to data compiled by AFP.
