"The future of Argentina depends
vitally on exports.
Only by exporting more will we get out of stagnation and move towards development," the Argentine Business Association, which shelters the owners and CEOs of the main companies, said this afternoon.
AEA, together with the Industrial Union and even the CAME, which groups together SMEs and small businesses, rejected the closure of meat exports ordered by the Government.
Thus, what was a conflict
between the countryside and the Government is transformed into a dispute with almost the entire business community.
"Restricting beef exports is a very negative decision that takes us away from that goal," AEA said in a statement.
"It will affect the entire value chain of said activity distributed in various regions of our country, it will make us lose valuable foreign exchange, and it will discourage investments and the generation of employment in the sector. It
will also put at risk access to markets abroad that with so much effort has been achieved, "he
said.
"In addition, since it is an activity strongly identified with Argentina, it will represent a
very negative signal for the realization of investments in the rest of the economy," they
highlighted.
"In effect, these require a framework of predictability and respect for the rules of the game that generate confidence in the direction of the country. The decision to restrict exports in a sector as archetypal as that of meat will unfortunately not contribute to the achievement of said objective ", concluded the AEA, chaired by Jaime Campos.
