On Friday, Total's general meeting renamed the group the name TotalEnergies.
A climate resolution was also adopted: it provides for carbon neutrality by 2050. The group thus confirms its shift towards energies other than oil.
Its CEO, Patrick Pouyanné, explains the underlying reasons for this change and its consequences for the 105,000 employees.

We didn't wake up one morning saying we had to change things.
The governing bodies of TotalEnergies have taken the measure of a paradigm shift which has accelerated in recent years.
Until 2015, our objectives were volume and profitability: "more production, more profitable"
.
This model is no longer sufficient: we must integrate climate data, that is to say arbitrate volume, carbon emissions and margins.
