"The people who matter in the office" # 61: The cyclist!

2021-06-11T23:19:33.357Z

LE BUREAULOGUE - Every Friday, Le Figaro invites you to meet a “cliché” character who poisons or enlivens the corporate world.

He looks great, the office cyclist.

Let's talk about it in the plural, because there are more and more of them.

They wander the halls with their helmets - the fashionable models are the famous Kask - and talk to each other about the best models of locks and brand new cycle paths.

In the office, they are activists: they are constantly campaigning for the opening of a larger bicycle room, with inflators or battery chargers.

Cyclists are diehards: they have been off public transport for a long time.

They make fun of their comrades who still dare, in 2021, to come to the office by car ... The cyclist is proud of his green, exemplary and responsible lifestyle.

Velotafeurs - that's their name - are already the subject of several books. At the office, they understand each other, greet each other. They have the same views on town planning. The more cycle paths there are, the happier they are. The more they see poor motorists stuck in traffic, the more they are delighted! Passing about twenty cars on the right gives them a joy that they do not even try to hide. The velotafeur, whatever his generation (Y, Z, or more senior), has a motto: never dismount. According to a study I meticulously conducted, a cyclist runs an average of 17 red lights on a 25-minute trip from home to office. They are individuals apart: the Highway Code does not concern them. They are above the law.

In the office, it is a population that can annoy others: some even harbor a deep hatred of cyclists, these unlearned people who believe they are allowed anything and who are real public dangers!

Like political opinions, it is a very serious social issue that can cause tension!

To be approached with caution and moderation ... The last straw for a velotafeur: run over a colleague who, in his right, crosses on a pedestrian crossing when the light is red for two and four wheels.

Or hit the rearview mirror of the GM's car out of the box.

At their own risk ...
