Today, the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade launched the specialized training program entitled “Professional Export Diploma” in the building of the permanent exhibition of Syrian products prepared for export of the Authority for Support and Development of Local Production and Exports, located in the exhibition city on the road to Damascus International Airport.

The program targets 55 participants from Dummar Central Incubator for Craft Arts, industrial and commercial companies, and owners of small and micro enterprises from the public and private sectors undergoing 200-hour export training for a period of 4 months.

The training axes in the “diploma” program deal with international marketing and export strategies, pricing and payment mechanisms, product policies, specifications, quality and promotion, whether at the level of advertising or participation in internal and external exhibitions or with regard to public relations, in addition to introducing the laws governing the export process in Syria and neighboring countries, customs clearance and rules of origin. This is done through the supervision of specialists in management, economics and law.

The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, stressed during his meeting with those in charge of the program that the export sector receives the attention of state institutions in various fields because it is a tributary sector to the national economy, pointing out that government work is integrated with the private sector in developing the export process and that the program targets small and micro enterprises with the aim of directing them. To think with a marketing mind and produce goods according to the specifications required externally, especially that Syria is characterized by the presence of craftsmen who produce rare and highly sought-after goods in foreign markets.

Minister Al-Khalil stressed the need for skilled workers in this field, i.e. the formation of professional department managers who are able to lead the export process, which will benefit their facilities in particular and the economy in general, stressing that the outputs of the “professional export” diploma will contribute to the advancement of the export process, which has witnessed remarkable growth. In the first quarter of this year, it recorded an increase of 50 percent over the first quarter of 2019.

In his speech, the head of the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside, Samer Al-Debs, noted the role of the diploma in graduating industrialists and project owners who are able to export their products without resorting to others.

Director of the Local Production and Exports Support and Development Authority, Thaer Fayyad, indicated in a statement to SANA’s delegate that another long-term goal of the program is to seek to have companies in Syria for the export process because the Syrian market lacks this type of companies and depends on shipping offices.

As for the 20 participating artisans from Dummar incubator in the program, they will receive training axes within the Dummar Central Incubator for Craft Arts to facilitate their movement and follow-up on their work, while other industrialists and traders receive the program at the headquarters of the Local Production and Exports Support and Development Authority in the Muhajireen neighborhood in Damascus. The training program will qualify the craftsmen to delve into the methods of the export process to be industrialists capable of carrying out the entire production process from its beginning to the export stage.

The trainer in the diploma, Dr. Hisham Khayat, a management specialist, indicated that the diploma curriculum is based on a long period of time to cover all aspects in an academic manner and produce qualified managers in the export department who are equipped with all international marketing concepts and procedures necessary for the success of the export process.

The launch was attended by the Director of the General Organization for Exhibitions and Duty Free.

The Local Production and Exports Support and Development Authority announced in early March the start of the specialized training program “Professional Export Diploma”, but it was stopped as a result of precautionary measures to address the Corona virus, to be re-launched today.
