The business climate fell slightly in July, but remained at a "
very high level
" well above that before the crisis, reported Thursday Insee.

The decline is linked to a "
slight downturn
" in retail trade, where the general outlook for activity is slightly less favorable.
The level of the index for the sector still remains at a very high level, underlines the National Institute of Statistics.
The indicator remains well above its long-term average
Calculated from the opinions of business leaders on their activity, the indicator which summarizes the business climate in France lost one point in July, to 113, well above its long-term average which is 100, and its level before the Covid-19 crisis which was 106. In June, this indicator was 114, the highest since 2007.
In industry, the business climate is improving, to 110 points, driven by optimism on order books and personal production prospects. In contrast, business leaders are less optimistic about the general outlook for production. For its part, the employment climate continues to improve, reaching a level unprecedented since spring 2019, at 108, notes INSEE. A development driven by the rise in favorable opinions on employment in services other than temporary employment agencies.
