The consumer center Hamburg has warned the Swedish e-scooter provider Voi for misleading.

Voi advertises an "unlimited number of trips at a fixed price" for day passes and monthly tickets - but in fact the number of trips per day with the company's electric scooters is limited according to the usage agreement, said the consumer advocates.

A certain total period of use should not be exceeded within 24 hours.

The consumer advocates referred to a specific case: The customer bought a monthly ticket for 39 euros, but received an email from the provider that he had violated the usage.

“The limit for fair use is nine trips per 24 hours or 200 minutes of use per 24 hours.” Voi pointed out that the “Voi Pass” should be deactivated or suspended without prior notice if the violation is not ended.

"That's not how it works.

Voi cannot lure consumers with an unlimited number of journeys if the use is actually limited, ”said Julia Rehberg from the Hamburg consumer center.

Such business conduct is unfair, even if possible restrictions are detailed elsewhere.

The consumer advocate advises to always look at the small print when using sharing offers.

"Many services seem cheaper at first glance than they are in the end."
