The BNP Paribas banking group reported on Friday a sharp rise in net profit in the second quarter, driven by a drop in its management fees, a decline in its provisions for risks and exceptional effects, against a background of sustained commercial activity .

From April to the end of June, the bank posted a net profit of just over 2.9 billion euros, up almost 27% from the second quarter of 2020 and around 18% from the second quarter 2019. Adjusted for exceptional effects, the increase in net profit was 16.5% compared to the second quarter of 2020 and 4.9% compared to the second quarter of 2019.
