As in recent months, gas and electricity prices increase from this Sunday. Like every beginning of the month, many changes occur in the daily life of the French. Like every beginning of the month, many changes occur in the daily life of the French.

If they often retain the regular increase in energy prices, as is the case on August 1, there is also sometimes good news, with for example the generalization of the new identity card , smaller and more secure.

We take stock.

  • Gas prices rise again

After an increase of 10% on July 1, it is a new increase of 5.3% which occurs on August 1.

In fact, homes that use gas for cooking alone will see their bills increase by 1.6%.

They rise by 3.3% for those who have dual use (cooking and hot water), and 5.5% for homes that heat with gas.

In total, this umpteenth increase should impact more than 3 million French people, who benefit from regulated prices.

This type of contract will also disappear on July 1, 2023.

  • Electricity also on the rise

Same trend as gas, electricity prices are also up (small) from this Sunday, via the slightly increased “blue” prices.

For residential customers, this corresponds to an increase of 0.48% and 0.38% for professionals.

According to the Energy Regulatory Commission, this increase would represent nearly 4 euros more on your bill.

The CRE justifies itself regarding this increase by a reassessment of the amounts dating from 2019.

  • The cost of parking more expensive in Paris

This increase might seem to concern only Parisians but it will in fact affect all those who drive to the capital.

Because from August 1, the price of “visitor” parking on the surface (which therefore does not concern residents…) increases.

It will therefore now be necessary to count 6 euros per hour in the center of Paris (1st to the 11th arrondissement) and 4 euros per hour in the districts bordering the ring road (from the 12th to the 20th), against 4 and 2.40 euros respectively today. hui.

At the same time, the increase in the ticket related to visitor parking is also increasing: it goes to 75 euros in the first 11 districts and to 50 euros in the others.

  • Increase in the rental of Vélib'electric vehicles

This time, the price increase is much more Parisian. As Vélib's new price list comes into effect on August 1, rentals of electric models will now cost more. If the prices remain unchanged for the green bikes, for the blue ones (the electric ones), on the other hand, the cost of the first period of use (extended to 45 minutes instead of 30 minutes in the previous formula to take into account the expansion of the service now available in Paris and in 56 outlying towns) goes from € 2 to € 3 for the V-libre package and from € 1 to € 2 for the V-Plus package. The price of the additional half hour (2 € for these two packages) is also doubled compared to the previous grid. These increases aim to limit the overuse of these bikes which are much more in demand than the mechanical version.

  • The health pass on the rails

If the government had announced the wider application of the health pass for this Sunday, including its extension to access cafes, bars and restaurants, it has been delayed.

We must now wait for the decision of the Constitutional Council scheduled for August 5.

In detail, the authority will validate or not this extension for restaurants, cafes, bars, some shopping centers or hospitals.

The application of the health pass will therefore be effective from August 9, especially in trains or planes, while it was a time scheduled for August 1.

  • The new identity card is coming

From Monday August 2, the new identity card arrives in the wallets of the French.

Gone are the days of the old version too large to fit in a card holder, the new, smaller version which was put into circulation in mid-March 2021 in Oise, then in Seine-Maritime and Reunion from March 29, is therefore deployed throughout the territory.

This card, in the format of a credit card, is also equipped with an electronic chip for better security of biometric data.

  • Only a few days left to use your 2020 meal vouchers

The 2020 meal vouchers, which expired at the end of February 2021, and whose use because of the health containment crisis had been exceptionally extended until August 31, 2021, will soon expire. So take advantage of the holidays to lock them because otherwise, they will no longer be accepted by your traders. Usually, meal vouchers can be used during the calendar year of their issue and the months of January and February of the following year.
