Less than
four months ago
, in mid-April, the UOCRA had closed a salary agreement for 35.8% with a review clause in case inflation
exceeded
that percentage.
After appealing to that clause, this Monday the union signed
a new joint agreement
that
stipulates a wage increase of 47.8%
for construction workers, as announced by the UOCRA.
The increase achieved by the union led by Gerardo Martínez brings the new floor for joint ventures closer to 50%.
Due to inflation, the UOCRA requested the revision of the April agreement.
Due to
high inflation
, one by one the joint agreements that had been signed in the first months of the year began to be reviewed.
The Banking Association, for example, which had signed a 29% salary adjustment last January,
in line with the Government's claim
and the inflationary pattern foreseen in the 2021 Budget, which was far behind.
Finally, last June the union and the chambers that group financial institutions sat down again last June and
signed a new agreement that was close to 43%
.
The Trade union, which had agreed to a 32% salary increase for commercial employees in April, is now negotiating the revision of its parity.
Claim a 44% increase.
In addition to high inflation, the
other thing that moved the parity floor was the rise of 40%
that Cristina Kirchner and Sergio Massa, presidents of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, granted to legislative personnel, at the beginning of June.
That was the sign that the ruling party was giving the
green light
for increases of at least 40%.
The new deal
The agreement that the UOCRA closed this Monday with the Argentine Chamber of Construction has yet to be formalized, but the intention is to take it to the Ministry of Labor this Tuesday to be approved.
It is customary for UOCRA and the Construction Chamber to
negotiate their joint ventures without the intervention
of the labor portfolio.
The new agreement
contains another review clause
: if inflation exceeds 47.8%, the parties will have to sit down to negotiate again.
The agreed salary increase reaches
320,000
construction
workers
in the country.
It is one of the most numerous activities in the private sector.
In the agreement signed in April, the
following scheme
of salary increases
had been established
: 12% in April, 10% in July, 7% in October and 6.8% in February 2022.
These tranches are
now added 5% in September, 5% in January 2022 and 2% more in March.
In total, the increase is 47.8% in
7 tranches.
