Consumers: Carrefour recalls apple juice and puree that may contain a dangerous toxin

The brand is recalling apple juice and “Carrefour Quality Line” apple puree that may contain an abnormal level of mycotoxin Patulin.


You may be concerned by these two products recalled by the Carrefour brand: the 100% pure artisanal apple juice

well as the artisanal apple purees without added sugars

Batches of two products from the

“Carrefour Quality Line”

are recalled from sale by the company Elabor because “

they are likely to contain the mycotoxin Patulin at a rate greater than the maximum authorized regulatory threshold

,” Carrefour wrote.

At high doses, oral absorption of this toxin leads to weight loss, intestinal disorders and disruption of renal function

", according to the website of the National Food Safety Agency, the environment and work (ANSES).

The affected batches of apple juice were marketed between March 25 and August 16 and apple purees between March 8 and August 16. Carrefour asks consumers who hold these products "

not to consume them and to bring them back to the store, where they will be reimbursed
