In a passage of his speech, President Alberto Fernández hinted in a ceremony in San Juan that he
would sign a decree to modify the credit conditions
that were imposed on UVA credits through law 25,827 and that it could represent a relief for those who they took that debt that adjusts for inflation.
"Today we were talking to Jorge (Ferraresi, Minister of Territorial Development and Habitat), and he told me that
we are going to have to obtain a DNU
to improve the credit conditions of those who want to access a house,
to guarantee
that the fee does not grow beyond the possibilities
of the one who takes the credit to pay, "said the president.
He followed with a question: "Why a DNU ?, because there is
a law enacted by the government precedent that regulated the UVA credits and therefore all
l
or to be modified on credit
must be done via a DNU,
"he explained.
UVA credits were a policy of Mauricio Macri's management.
"Think about the difference, before the housing problem
had to be solved by the market
. The market and the quotas rose as the dollar rose, as the market ordered, and what we are thinking with Jorge is that if I take out a loan, do not feel that it is getting into trouble,
feel like you're getting out of trouble,
"declared Fernandez.
In May, Jorge Ferraresi himself had affirmed that the Nación and Provincia banks will subsidize the quotas of the holders of UVA mortgage loans that exceed 35% of the income of the family group.
The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) announced, for its part, that it will establish an
instance of monitoring and early warning
to identify possible cases of risk that affect UVA mortgage debtors, in which the quota-income ratio exceeds the established limits by Decree 767/20.

A march in Congress
Last Friday a group of mortgage debtors marched down Avenida de Mayo asking for a solution to their situation: "Inflation makes it impossible to continue paying these loans," they affirmed.
"We can no longer continue to take charge of the excessive quotas that are increased monthly, because
inflation in this country is a scourge,
" said Gabriela Spat, one of the leaders of the mobilization against the UVA System.
Since 2017, when these loans were implemented,
more than 105 thousand
families have taken them out throughout the country.
"We no longer want to be kicked the ball forward, because we are paying a loan that is adjusted by dollar, inflation and construction index, which is what makes the amount of capital skyrocket. How can you tolerate a 400 percent increase in three and a half years? ", they remarked.
Spat said that he asked the bank for a loan of 1,900,000 pesos and today he owes more than 8 million.
"UVA credits are usurers"
, "The decision is political", "We want to pay our houses with a fair share", "We demand dignity", were some of the posters carried by the hundreds of protesters who went from the Obelisk to Congress .
The President addressed the issue from San Juan this Monday, in a ceremony in which he dedicated other criticisms to his predecessor Macri.
