In the corona pandemic, the state promised the economy quick and uncomplicated help - an offer that has repeatedly called fraudsters onto the scene.
Now the Berlin State Criminal Police Office has taken action against a mosque association, an association for cultural interaction and those responsible for suspected subsidy fraud in connection with corona aid.
Three suspects are said to have applied for and received a total of 47,000 euros, partly in their own name and partly for the clubs, unjustifiably, as the Berlin investigators announced.
In a raid in Reinickendorf, Wedding, Gesundbrunnen, Spandau and Kreuzberg, a total of five search warrants and one arrest warrant were carried out.
In one case, the money paid out is said to have been transferred from the association's account to the private account of an accused on the day of payment.
Even after the investment bank contacted us and reported publicly about the problem, the money should not have been repaid.
In another case, the business, the existence of which was to be secured by the emergency aid, is said to have been deregistered months beforehand.
