Yevgeny Dibrov

, 33, founder and CEO of Armis Security

Who I am:

Competitive. If I can not be number one in something, I will not do it. Deep, self-taught, loves to be among people, right-wing, loves the Land of Israel, as a child I read the book "Roll: Ron Feder on Jabotinsky 20 times.

Roots

: Mom's small family from Ukraine, Grandpa was an energy engineer, worked on gas infrastructure for heating and was insanely busy, and Grandma ran a pharmacy. They learned Hebrew underground and when the gates opened, most of the family emigrated to the US In and after deliberation they decided to immigrate to Israel.

We did not know the language and the first job of Grandpa and Mom, an expert in work economics, who won a gold medal in high school, was picking oranges. They did everything to float. Later, my mother worked for a local in Russia and my grandfather made a living from what was possible.

father

: I did not know Grandpa and Grandma from Dad's side.

My parents divorced when I was three and Dad came out of our lives.

When I was four he tried to contact me and my mother was afraid it would hurt me.

I know his name and that he is an electrical engineer, I saw him in the pictures, I am much more like my mother, and I was not interested beyond that.

I never looked for him, because I did not feel that I was missing anything and I felt the need to meet him, because Grandpa was a male figure present in my life.

Grandpa instilled in me a love for sports, I just signed up for him and me for Maccabi Tel Aviv in basketball, which I am a fan of third grade. Thanks to him I am a big fan of the NBA, and as a child I die for the statistics. Good models around me.I want me to have a big family, like my fiancée's.I so enjoyed my and her parents' meeting with the extended family, that I want to too.

My childhood

: I was four years old when we arrived in the Shaareiim neighborhood in Rehovot, a new place, a new language, and the fact that I entered a compulsory kindergarten, where no one spoke Russian, accelerated my integration.

My mother taught me to read early and in first grade I was exempt from Hebrew lessons.

Although there were no resources, my education was a top priority, I was bought new books, I was in the talented youth classes in mathematics at the Weizmann Institute, I played Maccabi Rehovot in children's and youth basketball and the chess league, and I won second place in the country in iron ball throwing.

In high school I studied computer science and did an advanced matriculation in mathematics in the 10th grade Bar Ilan.

On the one hand I was drawn to computers and physics, and on the other hand, my great hobbies were history and the Bible. I even took the Bible quiz, and came in second in the Central District.

To this day I remember what was the question I failed at.

Computers

: I served in One Eight, the technology unit of the Intelligence Corps, which launches into 8200, where I met Nadir, my partner and a large part of my employees today. My team leader in the unit was Assaf Rapaport, who served as CEO of Microsoft R&D and today owns WIZ. I was a year and permanent and I was privileged to be a partner in award-winning projects.

Torches

: During my service I studied electrical engineering and computer science at the Technion, as part of the "Torches" program, which is funded by Google, Intel and Microsoft. We selected five people with academic, entrepreneurial and interpersonal skills and alongside the studies we were given experience in the three companies, to understand how the industry works from within.

Career

: At the end of first year I started working as a hardware and software engineer at Mellanox and after a year and a half Assaf called and said that together with two other entrepreneurs, he raises money for a start-up and he offers me to be the first employee in the company. It was an extraordinary career opportunity, Game ChEngineer.

Adalum

: The security deal for the cloud app.

I was there from the beginning until the exit, when it was sold to Microsoft.

For the past year I have run the business in Europe and Asia, and lived in airplanes, it was the best business school that could be.

In July-August 2015 we started negotiations with Microsoft, and in September I exercised over half of the options I had and left.

Startup

: I dreamed of setting up something of my own. Over time I had thoughts and directions, but I did not have a good partner. along the Technion, and I took it from Google to be chief technologist venture mine, Tomer Schwartz joined us for a short time and left.

after the experience I have gained Madalom taught me first of all to examine what customers need. We had conversations with administrators and information security, what is trendy? what would you Money name? What are you missing?

We understand that there is an explosion in the number of devices connected to the network, from laptops to MRIs in hospitals, and it is impossible to install classic antivirus on 90% of the assets that companies have.

This is the area we worked on.

This coming November we will celebrate six crazy years, and today we are protecting about a billion devices worldwide.

Armis Security

: Provides a security platform for organizations that face the threats of Internet of Things devices that do not have built-in protection systems. We have a grocery list of IP addresses, we locate the devices, characterize them, what runs on them and how the operating system is built.

We give information about what is vulnerable, risks and weaknesses, and use our knowledge to protect them and produce counterattacks. Customers have the option to purchase just a few hours of installation and mapping or the entire package.

Silicon Valley

: A year after the company was founded, we moved the entire team, about 20 employees, Rare and I to Silicon Valley, with the understanding that we need to be close to our customers. Here began crazy years of countless flights, it was like riding a bus, each of us accumulated half a million miles at United. Ask me, how can I work all day? And to me it is very clear. There is nothing I enjoy more about work. She gives me adrenaline and satisfaction.

Sharin

: My fiancée, whose name consists of a combination of Shira and Rina, a partner in a venture capital fund.

She was an officer in 8200, studied IAF and business administration at university and came to Silicon Valley to work. Two mutual friends who met her separately, said I must meet this Israeli. We had an amazing connection from the first moment.

We had a long distance relationship and we saw each other Mini points on the globe, a very tough time. At the beginning of last year I settled in Israel and did it for the second time in my life. It was the first time that Sharin and I lived right together. With the help of the name, we will get married on September 10, , And yes, we want a big family.

Exit 1

: 2019 was crazy. The company has grown frantically, we have raised over $ 100 million, 200 employees, and an offer is coming from Insight Partners, a large venture capital fund, which already had a small percentage in the company. Jeff Horning, the founder of the foundation, invited us to dinner at an excellent steakhouse in Palo Alto, and said, we love their business and would love to make a big round, an investment of $ 150 million, but we thought of something else. Majority investment.

At that moment I did not understand what he was talking about. Only after we got out of there, I understand that this is an acquisition of existing investors and an exit for employees and us.

The truth? It sounds too good then. Acquiring 70% of the company is a life-changing financial exit for all of us, but one that wants to keep us as managers. Compared to classic exits, we remain Armis, with the managerial culture and unique DNA to continue to develop an amazing business until the IPO.

We remained shareholders, as before the sale, but with the back of Insight and the Google Capital Fund, which joined the move.

We changed boards, but we continue to run super fast, the value has jumped from $ 1.1 billion, to $ 2 billion and we continue to recruit employees in March.

We have employees in the US and in March I started flying a bit to face-to-face meetings, because when closing deals worth billions, the handshake matters.

Exit 2

: My lifestyle has not changed much. The biggest thrill was when I saw how much money each employee received, as we promised, And how it will change his life.I was happy to help my family, there is no financial anxiety, but the day after I was already insane what next and how we will reach ten billion in the offering.

(Photo: Reuven Castro)

Corona

: Mentally it was not easy. I love being with people, customers and employees. Companies were in shock for the first few months, but we got out of it very quickly because cyberattacks reached new heights and we invented products suitable for remote work.

Excessive value for companies

: There are companies with excessive value, but as the CEO of Aramis and the one who invests in start-ups myself at the lime level, the industry has matured. much more mature.

recruitment

competition loony and wages increase, as in a free market. unique we offer is the belief that our options will be worth a lot of money and organizational culture outstanding, invests in employees and formulates them. We do 400 employees but intimate atmosphere.

Offering: Aim for the right spot and invest in lots of parts to get to that moment ready.

Leisure:

Trying to play basketball, watching basketball and soccer games, friends, family, and Sharin.

Foresight

: We have a lot of things to do to build a crazy business and issue.

I am aiming for politics, perhaps to be Minister of Economy, Finance, Education and even Security, because history is a great passion.

I will not be the first hitchhiker to enter politics.
