Today, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection started selling sugar and tea via the electronic card at a reduced price than the local markets and without registering a prior request for the two materials, with the aim of breaking the monopoly and promoting the concept of positive intervention.

As for sugar, selling it at a reduced price according to specific quantities per month does not affect the subsidized sugar allocations that are available to be sold to families through the card according to a prior request and text messages specifying the date of receiving them according to the ministry’s clarifications, whereby the citizen can buy his subsidized sugar allocations in addition to the possibility of purchasing quantities of unsubsidized sugar At a reduced price from the Syrian Trade Showrooms.

According to the above, each electronic card can purchase a quantity of sugar amounting to 3 kilograms per month at a price of 2,200 Syrian pounds per kilo, while it is possible to purchase 400 grams of tea per month at a price of 7,200 pounds, or 600 grams at a price of 10,800 pounds, from the complexes of the Syrian Trade Corporation, its halls and outlets.

The head of the commercial department in the Syrian branch of trade in Damascus, Bashar Hadla, confirmed in a statement to SANA that there are sufficient quantities of the two substances “sugar and tea”, and the complexes, halls and outlets are supplied with them daily in conjunction with continuing to sell subsidized “sugar and rice.”

SANA’s camera monitored the opinions of a number of citizens during their purchase of sugar and tea. Both Mo’men Al-Abdullah and Muhammad Juma’a, while they were in the farm hall, considered that this step is very important in light of the lack of sugar in all shops in the markets, or the merchants raising its price in the range of 3000 to 3500 liras. Syrian.

In the Dummar project hall, Rasha Maalla indicated that allowing the purchase of specific quantities of sugar in addition to providing subsidized materials “sugar and rice” enhances the quantity and secures the need of most families of the material, while Alaa Al-Marri called for adding other materials and selling them in this way, such as oil, ghee and rice.
