Some of the employees concerned may be recruited after the end of year holidays, specifies the American group.

Like every year, Amazon is strengthening its teams for the busy holiday season.

This Wednesday, the company announces the launch of its recruitment campaign for 12,000 seasonal jobs in its various sites.

The latter will start at the end of September, in order to give the company time to train its recruits in view of the peaks of activity of "

Black Friday

", on the one hand, and Christmas holidays on the other.

"

These teams are added to the approximately 14,500 employees on permanent contracts in the company

", explains to

Figaro

the president of Amazon France Logistics, Ronan Bolé. Recruitments will be spread across the group's 33 sites, spread across France. In addition, part of the seasonal positions may lead to a lasting contract. “

Last year, out of 9,000 recruitments, 1,500 were offered a job afterwards, immediately after the holidays. We are counting on these seasonal jobs to identify new permanent contracts

», Indicates the boss of the company. Seasonal positions will be offered via a website, by temporary agencies and Pôle emploi agencies. They will come to swell the staff of the centers, faced with a heavy workload at the end of the year.

Amazon has been growing at a steady rate for several years in France: "

5 to 10 sites have been open every year for three years, in particular small local delivery sites

", specifies Ronan Bolé.

The group will also open a new distribution center in Metz this week, with 1,000 permanent contracts.

We have sites all over the country to get closer to our customers,

” notes the manager.

Proximity sites, located around metropolitan areas, are multiplying, for example around Nice, Pau, Belfort and Saint-Quentin.

A pivotal period

The American group, which planned to create 3,000 jobs in France this year, says it is confident and hopes to achieve this goal a little in advance. Unlike many industries, Amazon has no difficulty recruiting a workforce, trained upon joining the company. “

We have attractive salary conditions, as well as a good working atmosphere. Logistics agents start a little above the minimum wage, but, two years later, receive a salary 28% higher than the minimum

”, explains Ronan Bolé. The company also touts its advantages, including "

the allocation of free shares, bonuses, training schemes

" from which employees can benefit.

Chocolate, toys, flowers, books… The end-of-year holiday season is a turning point in many sectors of the trade. Imported from the United States,

Black Friday

has notably become, in a few years, a pivotal moment in the year: according to Bercy, in 2019, the French spent nearly 6 billion euros during the

Black Friday

weekend.

. Amazon, for its part, sees its activity doubling during the holidays. A moment not to be missed, therefore. The giant must also face fierce competition online, reinforced during the various confinements. It accounts for around 19% of the e-commerce market in France, down compared to last year.
