The Inflation Research Foundation in Turkey revealed that the real inflation rate in the country is more than double the officially announced figure.
The non-governmental economic group said in its report, which was reported by Zaman newspaper today, that the monthly inflation rate rose by about 6.90 percent, while the annual inflation rate reached 49.87 percent during the month of last October, which contradicts what was announced by the Turkish Statistics Authority, which was mentioned in its data yesterday that the monetary inflation rate rose in During the same period, it increased by 2.39 percent, and the annual monetary inflation rate recorded 19.89 percent.
The group said in its report that food commodities recorded the highest monthly increase by 14.77 percent, while communications recorded the highest monthly decline by 3.57 percent, in contrast with the data of the Statistics Authority, which previously said that it recorded an increase in prices only in the same period.
In this context, the President of the Republican People's Party, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, lied the official data announced and said that the real monetary inflation rate in Turkey exceeded 40 percent, stressing that the official data is separate from the reality experienced by the Turkish citizen.
The Turkish Statistical Authority had previously filed a complaint against the inflation research group for insulting the institution.
