According to surveys, a clear majority of German citizens are in favor of employees being obliged to provide information to their employer about their corona vaccination status.

In the meantime, 61 percent of those surveyed are of the opinion that employers should know whether their employees have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, said the polling institute YouGov.

At the end of August, the question was still 56 percent answered in the affirmative.

Currently, 18 percent disagree with this, and 12 percent said it depends on the work situation.

According to a representative survey by the Allensbach Institute for Demoscopy, according to "Wirtschaftswoche", a majority of 55 percent of German citizens and 53 percent of employed people are in favor of employers being allowed to inquire about the vaccination status of their employees in the future.

Around one in three see the vaccination status as a purely private matter that does not concern the employer.

The possible government coalition parties SPD, Greens and FDP are planning a nationwide 3G regulation in the workplace.

That means: only those who have been vaccinated or recovered or who have a daily test should be able to go to work in the future.

However, many essential questions are still unresolved.

It is open, among other things, whether the employer should be able to find out at least temporarily which employees have been vaccinated.

"Dividing line" between vaccinated and unvaccinated

So far, only employees in daycare centers, schools and nursing homes can be asked by the employer whether they are vaccinated.

The employers had demanded the right to ask questions for all industries and companies.

Trade unions had previously warned of a disproportionate interference with the basic rights of employees and rejected an obligation to provide information about the corona vaccination status.

»The dividing line runs between those who have been vaccinated and those who have not yet been vaccinated and who do not want to be vaccinated.

Of those vaccinated, 64 percent support the employer's right to information - of those who do not want to be vaccinated only ten percent, "writes Allensbach boss Renate Köcher in a guest article for" Wirtschaftswoche ".
