Tier Mobility, the European leader in microbility and electric scooters, has just acquired the German company Nextbike, a pure player in shared bikes present in 28 countries but not in France. The start-up, which raised 200 million euros (from SoftBank, Mubadala Capital, Novator, M&G) less than a month ago, paid cash for this acquisition.

Lawrence Leuschner, CEO and co-founder of Tier Mobility. Thanks to the takeover of Nextbike, we will be able to offer cities common offers of bicycles installed, such as Vélibs, on stations, and in “free floating”. Together we will be present in 400 cities with 250,000 vehicles. ”

So far Berlin-born Tier has deployed 150,000 scooters, e-bikes and shared e-scooters in 160 cities and 16 countries, in Europe and the Middle East.
The two operators will be able to achieve economies of scale by purchasing vehicles and batteries.
