The Director-General of the General Organization for Textile Industries, Engineer Harith Makhlouf, revealed that the Corporation seeks to secure the needs of spinning companies from ginned cotton after the decline in the quantities of cotton supplied from the gins of the General Organization for Cotton with the decrease in the areas planted with cotton in the country.
And Eng. Makhlouf indicated, during a presentation of the reality of the institution’s work in the Ministry of Industry today, that the institution is working on distributing the amount of 1600 tons of cotton available to it to the spinning companies, in addition to the contracting of the Coastal Spinning Company on 1600 tons by operating for others, in addition to its request for internal and external offers on the amount of 5000 tons of Ginned cotton and providing all possible facilities by the Corporation to applicants for third party employment for yarn companies.
Makhlouf explained that the management of the institution asked the affiliated spinning companies to operate all available exhaust to fill part of the cotton shortage, and to maintain the continuity of the production process in a manner that guarantees acceptable limits for the quality of the yarn produced, in addition to its transfer during the previous period of this year to a number of spinning machines from companies to other companies. With the aim of investing it optimally, operating 4 production lines for the industrial company in Aleppo, taking off 15 looms to produce medical gauze, and following up on the supply and launch of a line of sanitary supplies in the Syrian company in Aleppo.
Minister of Industry Ziad Sobhi Sabbagh pointed out that the decline in the areas planted with cotton as a result of the conditions of the terrorist war on the country requires searching for multiple alternatives and finding solutions in partnership among all, noting the Corporation's experience of recycling wastes during the last season for the first time in some companies and the need to generalize them to all spinning companies.
He asked the management of the institution to think of a new mechanism for producing mixed threads instead of full cotton threads and to benefit from local expertise in this matter and to give a role to all technicians in the companies, whether they are first-class or technicians by virtue of long experience, to preserve the legacy of this industry, stressing the inspection of means of protection Autonomous and industrial security periodically to be always at its maximum readiness.
