Amazon employees started a warning strike at several locations on Black Friday bargain day.
The actions at the location in Bad Hersfeld began with the beginning of the early shift this Thursday and should last until the end of the late shift on this Saturday, said a Ver.di spokeswoman.
There should also be work stoppages in the shipping centers in Rheinberg in North Rhine-Westphalia, in Koblenz and Graben near Augsburg.
They are part of a global day of action organized by the international service union UNI Global Union against the exploitation of workers by Amazon, Ver.di announced.
According to the union, employees in the USA, Bangladesh, Spain, India, France, Italy and Great Britain also participate in the activities under the motto “Make Amazon Pay”.
However, the company does not anticipate any noticeable effects for customers.
Preparations for the Christmas season began months ago, according to an Amazon spokesman.
As an employer, the company offers "excellent pay, excellent additional benefits and excellent career opportunities".
The Verdi union has been criticizing Amazon for years for rejecting collective agreements.
She calls for the recognition of the collective agreements for the retail and mail order business as well as negotiations on a collective agreement on “good and healthy work”.
