Inflation: Rate above five percent for the first time since 1992

For the first time since 1992, the German inflation rate has risen above five percent. This is partly due to the high energy prices.

In November, expensive energy drove the German inflation rate above the five percent mark for the first time since 1992.

Goods and services went up by an average of 5.2 percent, as the Federal Statistical Office announced in an initial estimate.
