The consumption of goods by households fell by 0.4% in October in France over one month, due to a drop in the consumption of manufactured goods, Insee announced on Tuesday.
Spending on manufactured goods fell by 1.8% after an increase of 1.9% in September, while food consumption rebounded to + 0.7%, after -1.5% in September, detailed the 'National Institute of Statistics.

". On the contrary, INSEE notes a sharp decline in consumption of durable goods (-2.7%), under the effect of a "
fall in sales of new cars
". Clothing and textile spending is also down 1.3%. Household consumption thus remains 1.8% below its pre-crisis level (i.e. the fourth quarter of 2019), further underlines the Institute.
In addition, INSEE has clearly corrected its estimate of the evolution of consumption in September, indicating that consumption finally rose by 0.2%, whereas it had initially been assessed as falling by 0.2%. %.
