Alexander Mikheev, Director General of the state company Rosoboronexport for the export of Russian arms and military equipment, announced that his country and India had abandoned the use of the dollar in mutual financial accounts.
Russia Today website quoted Mikheev as telling reporters in India today that "the two sides will make all payments in Russian rubles and Indian rupees," adding: "According to the tradition, we will continue to calculate and specify all transactions in dollars in order to facilitate the calculation operations... But in the real work Rosoboronexport has abandoned Almost 100 percent more than the use of the US currency.. For India, all exchanged financial accounts are done in rubles and rupees.”
"In addition, we are actively using bilateral agreements between the two countries that are found in the contract documents signed today," Mikheev continued.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks yesterday in the Indian capital, New Delhi, at the end of which they affirmed their countries' adherence to the distinguished strategic partnership between them and stressed that this relationship between Russia and India as two major powers with shared responsibility is still the mainstay of global peace and stability.
