The meeting between the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, and the Director of the Research Institute for World Economy and International Policies in Russia, Dr. Fyodor Laitlavsky, and his accompanying delegation focused on the challenges facing the Syrian economy due to the war and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the country and the development of Syrian-Russian relations at the level of trade exchange .
The meeting also touched on the possibility of benefiting from Russian expertise in the SME sector.
Minister Al-Khalil stated that the Syrian economy is also facing global challenges as well, including the Corona epidemic, the high costs of shipping and others, pointing to the importance of research centers in enhancing joint cooperation between the two countries by learning about the economic reality in Syria and knowing the strengths and available investment areas.
For his part, Laitlavsky explained that the institute is one of the important centers in the Russian Federation and provides studies and opinions to the relevant authorities and the business sector in Russia, pointing to the need to strengthen investment and trade relations between the two countries.
