Revenues of the free zones rise to 25.3 billion pounds

Damascus, SANA- The revenues of the General Organization for Free Zones have increased since the beginning of this year until the end of October

The revenues of the General Corporation for Free Zones rose from the beginning of this year until the end of last November to 25.3 billion pounds, an increase of 16.1 billion pounds over the same period last year, when its total revenues were 9.2 billion pounds.

In a report obtained by SANA, the corporation indicated that the value of goods and machinery imported into the free zones amounted to 83 billion, while the value of goods and machinery exported from the free zones, whether inside or outside the country, amounted to 140 billion pounds.

According to the report, the total customs duties collected by the General Customs Directorate as a result of placing goods and machinery in the free zones for local consumption until the end of last November amounted to 25.5 billion pounds, and the number of investors until the end of the mentioned period was 818, while the capital invested by them amounted to 402 million dollars and they secure job opportunities. for 5,151 workers.

In Syria, there are 9 free zones distributed over the governorates of Damascus and Latakia, two of them each, and one in each of Tartous, Aleppo, Hasaka, Homs and Daraa.
