The ministry wants to strengthen the role of occupational physicians in vaccination

2021-12-22T21:37:15.127Z

A circular invites prevention and occupational health services to set up an “action plan” in January to try to convince unvaccinated employees.

Any help is welcome to reach the 5.6 million French people who have not yet been vaccinated.

Among them, many employees who could be convinced by their occupational physician.

At least this is what the Ministry of Labor hopes, which intends to strengthen the role of these professionals in the vaccination against Covid-19.

The latter have been authorized to inject a dose into volunteer employees since February 2021.

In order to put the whole profession in order of battle, the Minister of Labor, Élisabeth Borne and the Secretary of State for Health, Laurent Pietraszewski unveiled on Wednesday a

"circular relating to the strengthening of anti-Covid-19 vaccination among employees ”For

prevention and occupational health services (SPST) and obtained from

Le Figaro

. Emphasizing the effort already made since the start of vaccination by these professionals who, according to the circular, have carried out more than 2 million injections

"within the services and in the vaccination center"

, the Minister and the Secretary of State want to

"consolidate the massive mobilization of PTSDs"

in particular in

"Very small and small and medium-sized enterprises (TPE / PME) and sectors of activity in which vaccination is the least advanced"

.

Three axes

Departments are therefore invited to implement

the system described in the circular

"in the next few days",

which is based on three axes.

The first is to

"secure vaccine supplies"

.

The circular insists on the need for the SPST to place an order on December 27 and 28 in order to have sufficient stock when employees return from vacation in early January.

Second axis of the system: the establishment of a

"vaccination action plan"

by each service with the objective of

"systematically offering vaccination during visits or health examinations at work"

. In this context, the healthcare professional must each time

“ask the employee for his vaccination status”

and

“inform and sensitize him”

in the event of a negative response. The plan also provides for

"planning vaccination sessions every week within the SPST or in the workplace"

with, upstream,

"individual actions with employees"

in the form of emails or phone calls

"to reach (those) reluctant to vaccination ”

.

This plan must be presented in the first week of January to the Dreets, bodies responsible for the missions of the labor inspection system.

Finally, according to the third axis presented by the circular, the prevention and occupational health services

"are invited to contact the health authorities and in particular the regional health agencies" in

order to

"mobilize their staff in the vaccination centers. "
