The reclaimed areas implemented by the mechanisms of the Directorate of Land Reclamation Projects and the Development of Fruitful Afforestation in the Ministry of Agriculture until the end of November this year amounted to 1,335 hectares, of which 669 hectares are for afforestation and 666 hectares for crops.
Director of Land Reclamation Projects at the Ministry of Agriculture, Khaled Shawkat, stated that the implemented reclamation process included a number of governorates, including 191 hectares in Damascus countryside, 400 hectares in Homs, 171 hectares in Hama, 36 hectares in Tartous, Latakia 50 hectares, Daraa 243 hectares, and Sweida 144 hectares. Quneitra, the reclaimed area reached 100 hectares.
Shawkat pointed out that next year's plan amounts to 4000 hectares, including 1080 hectares for the fruitful afforestation project, 420 hectares for the Green Belt project, and 2500 hectares for reclamation projects and the development of fruitful afforestation.
