Damascus - Sana
The Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection announced an initiative to manufacture concentrated juice in cooperation with NGOs to help citrus farmers and spare them from incurring major losses due to the stagnation of their crop.
A statement by the ministry, which SANA received a copy, said that in order to help citrus farmers in Syria and spare them from incurring major losses due to the stagnation of their crop, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection is advancing the initiative “Manufacturing concentrated juice.”
According to the statement, cooperation will be made with NGOs to manufacture concentrated juices from stagnant citrus, according to the following mechanism: The Ministry of Internal Trade provides the necessary raw materials, including citrus “oranges or lemons,” sugar and other production supplies according to the needs of each association.
Each association manufactures concentrated juice using its internal capabilities and sells the juices produced by it to the market at reasonable prices to achieve revenues for it and pays the Ministry of Trade only the value of the raw materials.
The ministry clarified that in the event that the association does not work in the sale or the entire quantity cannot be disbursed, the ministry will withdraw the quantities produced by the associations in return for an operating commission for each association to distribute the products through the Syrian outlets for trade.
The ministry indicated that with this initiative, we will achieve a financial resource for farmers and NGOs alike.
