The manager ensures that there is no risk of a cut but encourages the population to adopt the right actions.

The alert is launched.

The operator of the electricity transmission network RTE activated its yellow Ecowatt signal (on a scale from green to red) this Thursday, January 13 from 6 to 6 p.m. in the Grand Est and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions.

He believes that electricity consumption is high and recommends reducing it in view of the drop in temperatures.

There is no risk of a power cut, but let's now adopt eco-friendly actions to reduce our consumption

,” said RTE in the East in a tweet.

Four other French regions are classified "yellow" on Ecowatt, according to different time slots: Hauts-de-France, Île-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.

Right now, it should be down to three Friday before the whole country turns "green" again - normal consumption - on Saturday January 15th.

"Raising awareness among residents"

"

This signal is activated to raise awareness among residents when the electricity consumption of a region is higher than its historical consumption at the same time

," said RTE in a press release.

Adding that there is "

no risk on the security of supply in these regions or in France

", the manager believes that "

if all French people extinguish a light bulb, an electricity consumption saving of 600 MW [ would] be achieved on a national scale, ie approximately the electricity consumption of Grand Nancy or the Eurometropolis of Metz

”.

The Ecowatt "electricity weather forecast" advises, for example, not to charge your phone from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., to postpone the use of devices, not to leave devices on standby (television, box internet, computer ...).

At the end of December, RTE indicated that it had increased its level of vigilance

on electricity supply:

, drop in voltage on the distribution networks) would be likely in the event of a cold snap (around 4 ° C below normal) or a situation of very low wind power production on the European plate
