China's Sinopec Oil Refining Company announced the discovery of 100 million tons of oil and gas reserves in the Tarim Basin, Xinjiang region, northwest China.
The company said in a statement today that the reserves in the Shunbei oil and gas field are expected to provide 88 million tons of condensed oil and 290 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
In turn, economic analysts said the discovery will improve China's energy supply and help ensure China's national energy security.
